Jodhpur, known as the “Blue City”, is the second-largest city in Rajasthan in north-western India. Originally, the color of a house here pointed to the caste of the inhabitants. The inhabitants of these blue houses were the caste of the Brahmins.
Today, non-Brahmins, too, draw the blue houses. Interesting Fact: The blue color is also said to keep mosquitoes away and keep the house cool.
Travel Tip: As with many attractions in the area, a fee for the camera is also required for a visit to the impressive Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. Since the fee is usually higher than the entrance, it is worthwhile to take only one camera in a group.
